Horn antennas consist of an open, or “flared waveguide” which is shaped like a horn and are used in the transmission and receiving of RF GHz frequency signals. They are usually used in conjunction with waveguide feeds and lead radio waves into a narrow beam. They are broadband passive devices shaped like a pyramidal horn and are also used as calibration devices that measure the gain of other antennas.
